Off and Running to World Team Poker

OK, driving to Las Vegas tomorrow.  I’ll be there for two days and nights, safely tucked into the insanity of the poker world.  Doncha love it?  Yeah Baby!  I went to the World Team Poker website a few weeks ago and registered.  Hells Bells, I won something!  I am entitled to two free nights at the Golden Nugget, the press party and tickets to the event that happens on Wednesday.  I do have to tell you THAT I AM EXCITED ABOUT IT!

I also won two free, round trip tickets to Vegas but I’ll be driving, so guess what…they are going to give me the cash equivalent.  That makes me happy too. Marie is going to hit the press party and the show with me…that makes me happy too.

On the flip side, I’ve been a very busy kid.  Hiking for the last four mornings in a row with my neighbor Amy, pounding 35 minutes of aerobics two days back to back later in the afternoon…still trying to dislodge this popping fresh dough girl stomach I found somewhere about five years ago – not to leave that at a four day exercise plan, I’ve been on a steady one for the last two weeks.  I finally survived the bum wrist, the tooth extraction that pounded pain through every part my mouth for almost three weeks straight, a sinus/cold thing – AGAIN – that I either picked up from Riot or the desert allergies got me.  I’m almost back to being the person with the fat belly I knew three months ago.

I went so far as to join Nutrisystem – the vegetarian menu – and I’ve been on it for two weeks now.  Not much budging in the way of belly fat…yet.  I am not giving up.  I can handle the diet – and it’s kind interesting because it really puts your focus on food.  I’ve never been on a diet before – I’ve done moderation and just stopped certain things but never resorted to a diet.  It’s livable, lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and yogurt (I like all of it) coupled with their entrees and you even get desert every night.  I figure about three months of it and I will know if it’s for me or if I’m bailing and just doing moderation to the extreme (because I am determined to minus the blog around my middle).  The WSOP will put a bite in my nutrisystem diet as I will have to figure out a way to handle the food I take with me each day to the Rio…and I will…damn it!

All kinds of green still out in the desert – and some new flowers have come up.  Those will have to be another post since I’m so tired I can barely focus right now.

I played the Battle of the Blogger’s Tournament – again thanks to Full Tilt Poker and Alcanthang – and did poorly.  It’s my own fault.  I decided to go busto with A-Q off and ran into someone that held pocket nines.  Other than that, I haven’t played much online poker.

Last Thursday found me hosting lunch for Robert AKA Billy Monroe, his lovely wife Jessica (new residents of Las Vegas) and Steve (a reader became friend sometime ago).  We had a great time, anyway I did, I hope they did too.  We had veggie sandwiches, salad, cottage cheese, and fresh fruit.  After Steve headed out, I talked Robert and Jessica into playing Super Mario on the Wii, it was a real kick, and then showed Robert how to ride the Trikke.  He picked it up very fast…I think he’s a ringer.

I got to see Riot for just a few minutes on Friday as I dropped off some stuff at his house.  Gotta love the light in a kid’s eyes when they see you and it sparks to a zillion candle power as they run towards you to give you a hug.  Yummy!  I hope to have him out this weekend since next week will find me getting ready to hibernate in Vegas for the six week WSOP insanity.

Speaking of the WSOP, I do wish we could play on PartyPoker.  They have the coolest promos.  They are running a lifetime of WSOP Main Events – yeah, 20 years of the main event buy-in for the winner – and there are other great things going on there too.  But in the meantime, here we are, in the good old USA just praying that our fearless leaders will get their head out of their ass and strike poker from the UIGEA.

More news coming from the World Team Poker battlefield soon.  G’nite!
