Fridays are for

who knows what?  I used to have the Friday thing when I worked as a legal secretary, but got right out of the Friday mode when I became a poker deal – since Friday falls on any day of the week that is your last day of work before the weekend.  I won’t profess to being in the mood to sit here and pen.  I’m not.  I will profess to feeling that it’s time I did. So…

For nothing better to do, I had this done yesterday.  OK, I’m kidding on the nothing better to do.  No food or drink for 10 hours before and of course, make your appointment on time and then have to sit and wait at least a half hour before they get to you.  The scan took about an hour and 20 minutes, the last injection made me feel as if I would puke (but didn’t) and my abdomen cramped from my rib cage down to the pelvic area in incremental stages.  That part of it lasted about 10 minutes.  My gall bladder is showing up – that’s a good thing.  Monday I’m off to see the ultra sound wizard.  What won’t this woman do in search of good health?  No frigging idea!

On the poker note, Glenda and I have been playing PokerStars late evening and into the night.  She made the final table the other night – fought her way down through the ether levels of poker hell for hours – and I believe she took 7th place.  Very Nice!  Watching her play, we chatted on IM, she played exceptionally well.  *pats Glenda on back*

We both played again last night – I was in four tourneys at once for a brief moment – I have no idea how people multi-table all those tourneys.  I flopped Aces big kicker and got gutted on the river by a 3 that hit giving my opponent a set.  I held a big pair and got gutted on the river in another tournament by the two outer for a set.  I can’t even remember what happened in the third one.  At one point, in the 4th one, I had 20K in chips and hadn’t played a hand in quite some time.  Two off the button, I raised with A-Q off to around 4K I think.  UTG reraised me all-in for around 9K.  I called.  He had 8-5 of diamonds, 5 on the turn, 5 on the river and he stacked my chips.  I’m not whining, I’m reflecting…how does a person reraise at that point with 8 high?  And obviously they haven’t watched your play (because if they did, they would figure you weren’t trying to steal with a 7 high or lower), but do they believe you are throwing your hand away when they reraise that amount at that point?  Do they believe you have a hand that’s worse than 8-5 suited?  It’s all a mystery to me.  Anyway, I went from 20K in chips to busted in about 3 orbits.

I figure to play poker over the next few days after I do some major digging – call me Grannie Backhoe – as I need to get my projects done before it gets horrifically shitty weather again.  I did a desert walk with Amy this a.m. – after missing 3 or so in a row due to WIND conditions.  The walk was great, my brain is calm – and that takes some doing sometimes.

I have to make a trip into big “P” and find a notary today and see if there’s a smog station here that does diesel trucks.  This is the first year my truck requires a smog check.  SHIT!  Hate all the rules and regulations sometimes.  Laters!

  1. It was 6th place, not that it matters much…..and it was a fluke, you play top drawer but if they have luck and you don’t…you are dusted, as you know.
Thanks for cheering me on, you make the 7 long hours seem not so bad!
