Petroglyphs in cyber

funny, we bloggers are the future of scratchings in cyber – petroglyphs, the way some of us write (include me in that) it is like scratching stick figures on walls trying to tell a story.  So…here’s part of my story.

It was 107 in Las Vegas yesterday.  What does that have to do with anything?  It has to do with me, I hit the big city for a few hours…longer than I had planned.

The plan?  I had picked up school clothes for Riot and was going to meet him and dadparental for breakfast, show him his new clothes, and crayons and notebooks and scissors designed for five-year-olds.  Riot continues to explain that he is not going to school.  Surprise, surprise.  I believe he starts on Monday.  It should be a total shock to his entire system, and to all the kids and the teachers that he’s going to see also.

Well we had breakfast at the bagel Café and it was very good, Riot elected to play and laugh and not get too serious about food.  I talked to dad about the fact that the Steed had been sounding a little sluggish on the start lately, and it sounded like one of the batteries wasn’t happy and probably already dead or dying.  So we went Checker auto.  They did their best trying to find two batteries of suitable size but only had one.  We left and went to another Checker auto about five  miles away and had a knowledgeable and friendly guy named Jim assist us, and we found one.  We got two, one was on ‘will call’ at the other store, and I dropped dad and Riot off at the house while I went back to the first store, picked up the other battery, and showed up back at the old digs so dad could put the batteries in for me.  It was hot as hell.  It took longer than expected because company kept showing up to see dad.

Riot and I were out in the yard area by the truck and battery doin’s.  Dad decided to take a picture of the tattoo he did one of his friends that had arrived.  Riot was upset because he wanted to take a picture and no one would let them hold the camera.  He pouted, I teased him, he hid in the garage, and I offered to let him take a picture with my iPhone.  In essence, with his body language and attitude and screeching “NOOOO!” he was telling me to take a hike.  Unfortunately I can’t help but laugh when he starts behaving that way and it just adds fuel to the fire.

He ended up setting on the stones by the base of the tree in the front yard, and after I ignored him for a few minutes, I went over and leaned down to tell him we were supposed to be friends.  He put his head down and ignored me.  I leaned down closer, he spit on me.  Complete, instant, instinct took over and I slapped him right across the cheek.  If I had a moment to think about I would’ve slapped him right across the cheek.  Then he was really PO’d.

When the batteries were in the truck and everything appeared to be running fine, and I was ready to go, ask him if I could have a hug and he said no and took a swing at me when I stepped up close to him.  Dad told him not to treat me that way and to give me a hug.  I was done trying to be friendly by this time, I told him that I I know how to treat guys that didn’t treat me right.  I didn’t want to hug, and I turned around and hit the road.  My feelings weren’t hurt, he’s just being a kid, he’ll get over it, I was as soon as it happened.

I didn’t have time to play any poker yesterday, so I decided to play this morning for a bit.  I played two games on Absolute Poker in their small limit JackPot games and lost about $18.  A few hours later I played two games on PokerStars in the small limit Holdem games and managed to win about $9.    Some days I just have no focus for the game, can’t get into it, not interested, and ain’t gonna kill myself trying.  There may be a tournament in my future later tonight.

Damn, I do love poker though, even when I hate it, I love to hate it!

Our PokerWorks tournament this Sunday is going to be Badugi.  Heh-heh.  Some of us have been tossing around the idea of changing up the game so we can play a variety of games and this week, whilst we Badugi it up, we will see what everyone wants to play next time.  The tournament is on Sunday night, the 23rd, on PokerStars, 21:00 hours, password ‘donkeys’ with a buy-in of $5.50.  Try to be there – come and play your little donkey hearts out – you won’t score the big bucks or even respect or fame, just do it!

And I was back to those idiotic stress dreams last night.  I was driving a semi-truck and trying to find my way through a maze of bad streets, detours, no lights anywhere, and then ended up in a huge parking garage, on an elevator that carried the truck up to some floor.  I drove off the elevator only to find I was on a level that allowed no room to turn around and I had no idea how I was going to get out of the damn garage.  Somehow, I ended up back on a winding street going nowhere and trying to get through traffic.  SWEET!  First time I’ve ever driving a semi.
