some sort of insanity. I’ve had some bad runs before but this one is close to topping the charts. Of course I’m a donkey, there was never a doubt. I’m sure I pitch hands that I should be charging into the pot with, I see others do it and they win, but I’m in the run where nothing I throw away would drag the chips. That did change on one hand yesterday, but it was brief mistake made by the Card Fairy as she tried to lure me into playing ATC when I was desperately trying to make the $ in a $2.20 180 man turbo SNG. I would have made a FH with 8-6 off had I cared to dump the last of my chips into the pot UTG. I didn’t. I did make the $ and got back a win of around $2.

$2 is a huge win for me right now. I’m stuck in a sinking quagmire of no cards, then premium card beats in heads-up play is choking me out and my fragile little psycho poker personality isn’t handling it at all well. I don’t know how to win. I would like to rekindle the feeling because I did it once before a time or two. It’s probably like riding a bikeā€¦

Coupled with all the news out there about winning poker players, books written on winning, DVD/Videos on winning, and poker boot camps that are running all the time, they fail to add that you have to pick up cards now and then to win a pot. There is no law – written or otherwise stated/understood – that says that your cards will change. They can run ugly for years.

Each hand starts over; they don’t pile up in a stack and then all the bad cards blow up and disappear and a new streak or good stack starts piling up. I run bad a lot more than I ever run good and while I’m not superstitious, I do believe that some players run luckier than others, from my observations as a player and dealer.

I used to like to play the micro limit Razz and Stud 8 tourneys on PokerStars. Since I’ve returned from the trip North, I see they are no longer available. The Stud 8 now starts at 6 a.m. and is a $3.30 buy-in instead of a $1.10 buy-in. I wrote support about this. I received a reply that my request would be forwarded. Of course I’m looking for cheapo buy-ins, my BR has suffered brutally since I haven’t been able to book any wins. I’ve stayed mostly with tournament play in the Chasing Chris project. It’s been a drought the last 6 weeks or so.

I will have an update later today on Chasing Chris Ferguson on my $200K guarantee tournament play and the PokerWorks H.O.R.S.E. tournament that starts in about four and a half hours. You still have time to log in, register, and join us. See you there!
