I have got to get out of town

A few days ago, as I sat at my work area in the coach, I heard the dreaded screech of tires that sounds like someone is braking for dear life. It went on and on and on…by now I had steeled my nerves for the sound of a crash, when the screeching appeared to go on forever, I was convinced that a vehicle was going to slam through the block wall that separates my RV park from Boulder Highway and then crash into my coach. Just as it stopped, I saw a car go around the horseshoe turn of my street and head back the other way – doing close to 50. No shit! I have no idea how he didn’t slide right into the other RVs at the end of the street. Immediately after he disappeared, a cop car came careening after him.

My heart went to my throat as I waited to hear a collision somewhere down the short end of the street by the office, but nothing happened. It’s pretty sick. This place is filled with older people and many of them are out walking up and down the small streets at all times of day. Include me in that. And if I’d been backing the Steed out of my space, or anyone else had been…you get the picture.

Two days after that as I sat again in my work space, I saw a man go running by followed by a woman that was hysterically crying, trying to catch him. There is no exit through the block wall on this end. The man jumped up over the wall. She managed to follow him by stepping up onto a lamp post base and jumping onto the wall. I find it to be very distressing.

It just reinforces the fact that I would like to be in the peaceful, one acre setting on the Pahrump property, looking out at a nicely landscaped yard area that is surrounded by soft cedars…blocking out the world.

If things weren’t all hectic and bizarro right now, I’d just hitch up and head out to somewhere with no specific place in mind. But it isn’t looking that way for awhile.

Tomorrow I have one of those cardiolyte stress tests planned in the a.m. I’m just wondering who’s there to save you if you have a heart attack while you’re taking it. Don’t think the thought of being injected with something that contains radioactive schmative is high on my list. It ain’t.

Once I survive the test, it’s possible mortgage papers will be in and I’ll be on my way to the bank for a cashier’s check and then off to sign until I have writer’s cramp. YIPPEEE!

But I won’t be ready to move to the property for awhile. First the Steed has to go in for its end of 35K warranty and it may have to be left over night as wheel alignment is on my list too.

Kayanna will be coming in on Sunday…I’ll be at the airport for sure…big smiley face and happy tears going on. She will be with me for almost two weeks. Guitar Hero III competition here we come.

There are some things that need to be done on the Pahrump property before I make my move out there. That will involve a trip and a day or so to work it all out.

On this last week, Sandi came to my place for dinner on Thursday night, we talked forever, had some great steaks (I cooked of course they were great), and in general, talked about poker, life, and our future plans. Nice!

I spent the evening of the 4th at Greg and Amy’s for an impromptu BBQ. Tami and Ryan were there too with their kids. Little Grace had me chuckling more than once. It was a real treat. We hadn’t been together in a long time. *heavy sigh* I miss my friends when we don’t connect for awhile Speaking of friends, Marie and I are in touch on the phone frequently. Gary and Marie headed into Canada for a week of fishing not long ago. She said they had a great time.

Really good news on the evil plastic in the temporary crowns that wreaked havoc with my lips and life. My dentist’s office called me on Wed. and set up an appointment for me on Thursday the 3rd. What a huge relief, otherwise it would have been sometime after the 11th. Things in the mouth area are close to being back to normal…except for the teeth gnashing when I try to win a pot in an online poker game. No can do.

Family Reunion time is just around the corner too. Things are hot here in Vegas, so is my menu of things I need to do…sleep is first.
