Poker Bloggers

I can’t help but wonder if the glorious days of insane poker bloggers converging on Vegas is becoming a thing of the past. It certainly doesn’t feel the same as it did a year ago but then a year ago didn’t feel quite the same either. The winter gatherings bring in most of the horde and I’m hoping this December will see the same or better enthusiastic flood of my favorite poker lunatics showing up in Sin City.

Word has it that some came in last weekend and some will arrive this weekend but it seems to be more of a random hit and miss, ‘maybe we’ll see each other for a drink at the IP type of thing’. As far as I’ve heard, there’s not been a tournament plan or even a group lunch planned. It’s possible that no one wants to hang with me so they aren’t informing me of any plans. To that I say, SCREW THEM! Oh well.

I hate to think that the era of the poker blogger is fading off into history. There will always be some of us that keep pounding the keys and writing about poker – some of it good, some of it bad. I knew that when I jumped out of the dealer’s box that I would stop being a ‘must read’ type of draw, simply because people want to hear all the horror stories and the right in the ‘front lines’ action. Obviously if you do write about it, you get the shit kicked out of you on various forums, like 2+2 because the people that want to read about it then want to rip you because you wrote about it. Nice little circle of slop there.

I have another jaunt to the Rio planned – possibly tomorrow. I may hang out a little longer than normal or may get there and just go “OH MY GOD!” and leave after having lunch with my writing crew. Unknown at this timeā€¦as the mood hits, I’ll go with it.

One week from today I get to lose the frigging brackets. OMG! No more pressure stress on those teeth? No more waxing up the metal like it was a hot rod classic show at the LA Convention Center? Oh my, oh my, how will I handle it? YIPPEEEEEEE! I’ll be able to bite down without hitting weird spots on my other teeth and just – in general – feel like my mouth is back in sync. Can hardly wait.

I’ve been playing a lot of PokerStars tourneys in the Chasing Chris Ferguson project. I plan on having a report up sometime late tonight on how to start first and end up worst. *PUKE* But, the good thing about poker is that it always resets and starts over. Bad day today? Just come back later or take a few days off and jump right on the galloping horse again. Saddle slips off and you go over the horse’s head, sliding down the track with your skin getting scraped off, your back hurts, your brain hurts worse because you can’t figure out how they keep getting there? Just come back later or take a few days off. I can always convince myself it’s time to play poker. I’ll be logged in and in another tourney in a few hours.
