Project City Center Update

I can’t help my fascination with the destruction of everything that’s going on in and around Bellagio’s Employee Parking Lot – the future home of CityCenter. It’s hard to try and describe what it’s really going to be like when it’s finished – especially at a poker table where people are curious and they all think it’s going to be a huge casino. Umnhhh! For more info on what is going on there, please visit wikipedia. For pictures and updates as to what is happening that I can see and record, please look for Project City Center Updates here on Tango. This is my original post with pictures. To see the latest update, visit here.

This is where I’m at with it right now. When I went in to work on Thursday of last week, Happy Clown was still standing. Happy Clown is down now. I believe the orange color you can see behind the truck (under the McDonald’s sign) depicts that Happy Clown has fallen and probably isn’t so damn happy now.

Happy Clown is down

As a matter of fact, almost everything is down, except for a few random signs, a small portion of the hotel/office, and the parking garage. This sign stands out pretty damn well, but it should, it’s all alone in a sea of rubble. Rubble that can’t be seen by anyone passing on the strip because a big fence covered with a green screen hides most of the ugliness.

These were taken a week ago, after I’d hit Mandalay Bay to check out the Poker Art Exhibition. This is a before shot from the original Project City Center post:

Before the earth started moving

This is what it looked like a week ago from the upper level of the Boardwalk Parking Garage – same location as the above picture:

Constructin and big rigs

This is taken from a ground level view in employee parking. The two buildings under construction in the background are across the freeway and condos – I think. The building on the far right is the employee parking garage.

This is what the backside of the remains of the Boardwalk looked like a week ago – the rollercoaster and all. It’s gone now.

All that

And this? All that was left of the swimming pools of the Boardwalk a week ago. No swimming allowed:
