It never slows down

I spent one day in the middle of the room, the rest of my week I went through high limit at some point in the night. Tonight was no exception, but what a journey. The 4th game I dealt was $800-$1600 razz. Spare any thoughts you have about this game. I do not despise it but the whole of it is not what I would paint as a picture of poker. The 1s was Annie Duke – 2s Jason Lester – 3s Howard Lederer – 7s Jennifer Harman – 8s Larry. Keep in mind that Howard and Annie are brother and sister.

The next game was $30-$60 stud. It was a lot of fun. The people in the game were not in the ‘I’m a player and I deserve and know everything’ mode. Gloria was in the 1s…I love her dearly. She’s been on the poker scene for years and still believes in ‘luck’ and ‘dealers’…God bless her heart. She put a few RAMS and JAMS on them and it was fun for me as she’s pretty much the live one of the group…until Bruce F. joined the game in the 5s. Then it was really rock and roll heaven as the chips sailed into the pots.

I moved on to $60-$120 Holdem, it was a full table…the conversation continuously went to ‘let’s play $100-$200’ but two players objected so the limit stayed.

Then two games of $30-$60 Holdem, one game of $20-$40 Omaha 8 or Better and finally Omaha Pot Limit with $25-$25 blind.

Unbelievable this game. The pots were huge, mass action. A new player came into the game and won the 1st pot with trip 9’s…pot was somewhere around $5,000. He won the next pot with trip 8’s…pot was a little smaller this time. Then one pot that was incredibly huge…$1,400 from three players pre-flop along with bets from other players that gave up when the raise went to $1,000 more ALL IN…total of $4,800 in the main pot before the flop. Two players left in the action…one was the new guy…$4,800 each for a side pot of $9,600. On the flop, the bet put the new player ALL IN…around $5,000. The new player showed K-K-6-?. The other two players held A-A. One player won the whole side pot…around $17,000 and half of the main pot. It was an amazing game – the new player barely hesitated to call $5,000 with K-K-?-?.

Then on to $100-$200 Holdem, some of the same players that were in the $60-$120 game earlier. It was a little rammer jammer also.

My last game of the night was $1-$5 7 Card Stud. They were fun and it was the perfect ending to a very noisy night.
